Immerse yourself in nature with treehouse rentals.

Why choose a tree house over a traditional hotel?

These rentals offer the perfect blend of comfort and outdoor exploration. Here’s why you must choose a tree house, over a traditional hotel, for your next vacation.

For starters, these abodes are nestled in the heart of nature, giving you a serene escape from the chaotic urban lifestyle. Wake up to the soothing melodies of birds chirping and water flowing outside your window. A perfect example of such a tree house is Ella’s Enchanted Treehouses, resting in the delightful Savage River State Forest. Here, luxury treehouses have outdoor showers and hot tubs to cater to your utmost comfort.

Every treehouse boasts a unique charm, featuring majestic and cozy structures, including treehouse-style decks, outdoor seating, fire pits, wood-burning fireplaces, and stoves. The Birdhouse is a prime illustration of this, located in South River. Made of rustic materials like barn wood and natural textures, it’s the perfect getaway for anyone seeking a more authentic treehouse experience.

So, if you are an outdoors fan searching for an escape that can help you reconnect with nature, look for rentals like these secluded tree houses. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you undoubtedly won’t forget.

How do we find these fantastic treehouse rentals?

We get asked this question a lot about our reviews of stays and destinations. However, the answer is surprisingly easy.

We stay at them!

Before the stay, we scour the web and read reviews of other camping and glamping enthusiasts to see what they think of these places. We also like to see their photos to see if we’re interested in them. If we like it, we’ll book it.

We’re always looking for a rustic getaway or a hidden treasure that will take our outdoor adventure to the next level.

Take, for example, our glamping trip up to Maine or even northern California. We found several places to stay and stayed at each place for just a couple of nights. This allows us to take in more sights and destinations in less time.

The best treehouse rentals on the market.

Now that we’ve got you fantasizing about a night in the sky, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite treehouses throughout the Old Line State. No matter what type of place you’re looking for, we think you’ll be able to assemble a majestic forest adventure that’s perfect for you.

Treehouse Camp at Maple Tree Campground

One of our favorite treehouse destinations is the Treehouse Camp at Maple Tree Campground. With 20 acres of beautiful wooded campground nestled up to the Appalachian Trail, you’ll have access to year-round camping, hiking, and river rafting fun.

These rustic shelters provide an unforgettable camping experience, with primitive shelter and three-season living. Although there are no mattresses, electricity, or woodstoves, the seclusion and beauty of these treehouses make them a perfect escape into nature. Blue Moon Rising Cabins on Deep Creek Lake

Blue Moon Rising Cabins on Deep Creek Lake

The Blue Moon Rising Cabins on Deep Creek Lake offer a unique, eco-friendly vacation experience. Founded by Lisa M. Jan in 2008, Blue Moon Rising integrates vacation rental properties with sustainable construction practices and techniques, creating a one-of-a-kind vacation experience while leaving as little impact on the natural landscape as possible.

Although these are more cabin rentals than tree house rentals, they’re still some of the nicest in Maryland.

At Blue Moon Rising, nothing goes to waste. Each tree removed during construction was evaluated to be reused elsewhere on the project. The dirt removed during foundation excavating was carefully sifted and mixed with clay, water, and lime to become the natural plaster coatings on the interior and exterior straw bale walls of their flagship building, “The Leap.” Even in day-to-day operations, Blue Moon Rising continues to apply earth-first principles.

Blue Moon Rising offers a range of cabins, each with unique charm and amenities. From the Bella Donna to the Walden, guests will surely find the perfect cabin for their needs. These cabins come with eco-friendly sheets, towels, locally made organic soap, and a full suite of kitchen necessities, including a Nu-Wave cooktop, toaster oven, mini-fridge, French press, and utensils. Other amenities include:

  • A nightly campfire.
  • Free Wi-Fi.
  • Lake access.
  • Hiking trails throughout their 116 acres.
  • Superior guest service.

With amenities such as full kitchens and nightly campfires, guests can enjoy all the comforts of home while surrounded by nature. The Birdhouse

The Birdhouse

One of our favorite places to stay is the Birdhouse (you know we love finding unique Airbnb gems). The Birdhouse is the perfect destination for nature enthusiasts seeking a serene and off-grid experience. Situated on a private 15-acre property in Friendsville, Maryland, this unique treehouse is just 3 miles from a ski resort, Deep Creek Lake, and the Youghiogheny River, making it an ideal location for birdwatchers, rafters, kayakers, and boaters alike.

The Birdhouse offers a truly one-of-a-kind space powered entirely by solar energy. Despite its off-grid nature, guests will still enjoy the comforts of home with Wi-Fi access close by on the property and a dedicated workspace for those who need it. For outdoor enthusiasts, biking and hiking trails are easily accessible from the property.

It’s important to note that the road leading to The Birdhouse is not maintained during snowy conditions. We went during the summer, so the trek wasn’t bad. However, there’s some appeal in glamping in the winter months.

This cozy treehouse offers a range of amenities, including a mountain view, a fully equipped kitchen, driveway parking on the premises, an EV charger, a private balcony and backyard. You’ll also find an indoor gas fireplace and a fire pit for chilly nights.

The Birdhouse can accommodate up to two guests in its double bed, providing a peaceful retreat for couples or solo travelers. The bathroom features an off-the-grid hot shower and flushing toilet, ensuring a comfortable stay. You’ll find everything you need in the kitchen to prepare meals, including pots, pans, dishware, a coffee maker, and a kettle.

With breathtaking views, The Birdhouse offers a tranquil haven for those looking to immerse themselves in nature without sacrificing the comforts of home. The Birdhouse is one of the best tree house rentals you’ll find in Maryland.

Deep Creek Lake Stay

Deep Creek Lake Stay

Experience the beauty of Maryland’s mountains at Deep Creek Lake Stay, where you can witness a glorious sunrise while having breakfast on the deck and breathing in pure mountain air. With no mosquitoes to bother you, renters will have a fantastic time.

During your stay, visit the Discovery Center at Deep Creek State Park, swim, or go boating in the lake. Summer days are warm, while evenings are perfect for a good night’s sleep. The autumn season brings the stunning colors of Autumn Glory, and skiing at the nearby Ski Wisp (only 10 minutes away) is a must in winter.

After a day of outdoor activities, enjoy a drink in front of the stone fireplace or unwind in the hot tub while the kids play foosball, cards, board games, or the keyboard in the spacious den downstairs (equipped with a propane stove). Don’t forget to step out onto the deck in the evening to admire a sky full of stars and, if you’re lucky, a full moon too.

Amenities at Deep Creek Lake Stay include air conditioning, a hot tub, a fireplace, TV, satellite or cable, a washer and dryer, a picnic table, and so much more.

Of course, this isn’t your typical treehouse. In fact, it’s tough to even categorize it as a treehouse. It’s more of a luxury cabin amongst the trees. However, we think you’re going to love staying there.

Go and book a few treehouses for yourself!

Take a deep breath and escape the frantic pace of everyday life by booking a stay at a treehouse rental in serene Maryland. It’s a fantastic way to surround yourself with nature and simply unwind.

Think about it: gazing up at the majestic structure as you lay in bed, listening to the sounds of the forest surrounding you. Heavenly. And, if you like the outdoors and the convenience of luxury, you can get both – some treehouses come equipped with things like an outdoor shower and hot tubs. It’s a bang for your buck kind of situation, folks.

Here’s a novel idea: ditch the predictable hotel room experience and do something different. Consider satisfying your sense of adventure by treating yourself to a treehouse stay. There’s no limit to the tree house rentals you’ll find in Maryland. You’ll be glad you did when you’re reminiscing about it for years to come. After all, you deserve to indulge yourself in Maryland’s best-kept secret and have a one-of-a-kind experience.
