Glamping is the perfect solution for you if you love camping but can’t stand sleeping in a stuffy, cramped tent. Glamping is a luxurious form of camping that allows you to enjoy all the best parts of the outdoors without giving up any of the comforts of home. And the best part is you can easily make your glamping tent with just a few simple materials and a little bit of elbow grease.

Since we’re big fans of glamping here at GlamperGear, we thought we’d share our top 5 tips for making your glamping tent. There is no need to go out and rent a luxurious yurt or spend thousands of dollars on a high-end camping trailer when you can make your cozy glamping abode with these simple tips.

Pick the perfect spot.

Flat Open Areas are Great for Glamping Tents
Find a generally flat area to set up your tent.

Before you get started, you need to identify the perfect location for your glamping tent. Look for a flat, level spot far away from trees or bushes (you don’t want critters crawling into your tent at night).

It’s okay if you don’t have a perfectly level spot, just find a place as close to the level as possible. You might consider making a tent platform if you want to go all out. This will make your glamping experience even more enjoyable and make it easier to keep your tent clean.

Choose your canvas.

Choose the Right Material for Glamping Tent
The most common material for glamping tents is a thick, durable canvas.

The first step is to pick out a suitable fabric for your glamping tent. You’ll want something sturdy that will hold up against wind and rain but also something light enough that it won’t weigh down your tent. Canvas is a great option, but if you want something cheaper, you can also use heavy-duty tarpaulin. Most bell tents and some yurts are made out of canvas.

There are many options and canvas styles, so make sure you pick something that matches your aesthetic. You can go for a classic look with a neutral-colored tent or create a statement with a bright and bold pattern.

Add some flair with embellishments.

Glamping Decor and Flair in a Tent
Add some décor and flair to your glamorous tent.

Now it’s time to add some personality to your tent! Consider adding colorful ribbons, appliqués, or sequins to make your tent stand out.

One of the great things about making your glamping tent is that you can really make it your own. Have fun with it, and make it as unique as you are. Some people even add chandeliers or string lights to make their tents extra cozy and inviting. We’ll cover lighting later, but remember that glamping is all about style and comfort.

Get cozy with bedding and pillows.

Glamping Pillows and Comforter on a Bed
Depending on how luxurious you want to go, dress up your tent with plush pillows and comforters.

Speaking of comfort, now it’s time to make your glamping tent feel like home! Start by adding a thick layer of blankets or quilts to the floor of your tent. If you have a plush rug, then that’s even better.

Then, add some comfy pillows and throws so you can relax in style. If you really want to go all out, you can bring a portable air mattress or cot for extra comfort. There’s no limit to how cozy you can make your glamping tent, so make it as comfortable as you like.

Light it up for some ambiance.

Light Up Your Glamping Tent with Edison Bulbs
One way to make a luxurious statement for your glampsite is by hanging some outdoor Edison bulbs.

To set the mood, string fairy lights around your glamping tent’s inside. You can also use solar-powered lanterns or battery-operated candles if you’re worried about fire safety. You might even consider some Edison string lights for a retro-chic look.

Light up the inside of your glamping tent, and don’t forget to light up the outside too. This will make your tent visible at night and more inviting to guests. You want to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, so make sure your lighting reflects that.
